About

It’s the day before Katherine Blake’s big wedding, and everything needs to be perfect. Her catering business is on the line, her soon-to-be husband Mike is eager to help, and her kids — teenage Ellie and her little brother Fletcher — are doing their best to keep up. But tensions are running high. Ellie thinks her mum is controlling and has no idea what it’s like to be her, while Katherine sees Ellie as distracted and ungrateful. Fletcher just wishes everyone would stop arguing long enough to notice him.

Then, in a twist of magical mayhem, a mysterious antique hourglass breaks during an argument — and Katherine and Ellie suddenly swap bodies! Katherine is thrust into the unpredictable world of high school — complete with cliques, crushes, and chaos — while Ellie is forced to juggle adult responsibilities, a packed schedule of appointments, and the rapidly approaching wedding of the century.

As the two stumble through each other’s lives, they begin to see the truth behind their frustrations: Ellie learns how much her mum carries on her shoulders, and Katherine realises how much Ellie misses her dad and how much things have changed since he passed. Through laughter, heartbreak, and a whole lot of chaos, they rediscover the love between them and gain a new appreciation for each other’s worlds.

With time running out to find the missing hourglass before the wedding begins, the Blakes must work together to set things right. Along the way, they find understanding, forgiveness, and a renewed sense of family that reminds them that growing up — and letting go — can be beautiful, even when life gets a little freaky.

Freaky Friday the Musical is a heartfelt, hilarious celebration of love, empathy, and the magic of seeing the world through someone else’s eyes.
