About

Presented by NOVA Music Theatre Inc.

NOVA Music Theatre is delighted to announce its upcoming production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's timeless musical "The Sound of Music," running March 20-29, 2026 at The Round in Nunawading. This year is the 60th anniversary of the release of the movie in 1965.

This enchanting production tells the inspiring true story of Maria von Trapp, a spirited postulant who becomes governess to the seven von Trapp children in 1930s Austria. As Maria brings music and joy back into the von Trapp household, she captures the heart of their widowed father, Captain von Trapp. When the Nazi regime threatens their way of life, the family must find courage to escape to freedom, guided by the power of love and music.

Featuring unforgettable songs including "Do-Re-Mi," "My Favorite Things," "Edelweiss," and the title song "The Sound of Music," this beloved musical has captivated audiences worldwide for six decades.

NOVA is thrilled to present this heart-warming story that celebrates the triumph of love, family, and music over adversity. The setting of The Round will create a truly special experience for our audiences.

NOVA Music Theatre's production promises stunning vocals, beautiful choreography, and the authentic Austrian folk influences that make this musical so endearing. The talented cast and creative team are committed to delivering a performance that honours both the historical significance and the joyful spirit of this classic work.
