About

A cartoon adventure on an overhead projector.

This is the story of Rasthomas Bulge, a used car salesman with a sudden inkling he’s doing nothing with his life. On a day like any other, our unlikely hero finds himself catapulted into an impossible journey across time and space. Drawing inspiration from adventure novels, cartooning and classic cinema, two performers bring this original story to life on an old overhead projector using light, paper, pipe cleaners, cellophane and live illustration. A lo-fi act of theatre magic, this show invites audiences on an imaginative and heart-warming journey around the world, to the bottom of the ocean, up to the moon and back again.

★★★★ “Intellectually curious, inventive, and plumbing great fathoms of silliness.” — John Bailey, The Age.

“A raw but hilarious and strangely moving two-dimensional Odyssean tale of a man finding his true self at the bottom of the sea.” — Juliana Payne, Theatre Thoughts.

Awards include Winner — NSW Touring Award, Melbourne Fringe 2024; Winner — Outstanding Production Design, Green Room Awards 2025; Winner — Outstanding Sound Design, Green Room Awards 2025; plus nominations for Melbourne Fringe, Sydney Fringe and Green Room Awards.
