Celebrating Together, Enchanting Melodies of Jiangnan
On 26 September 2026, Silk and Bamboo Traditions · Celebrating Two Milestones · Three Years of Musical Excellence will take centre stage in a spectacular international concert celebrating two significant milestones: the first anniversary of the Australian Jiangnan Sizhu Music Association and the third anniversary of the Xingyun Chinese Orchestra Melbourne.
The concert brings together an exceptional ensemble of renowned musicians, featuring Gu Guanren, acclaimed Chinese composer and music artist; Zhan Yongming, distinguished dizi (Chinese bamboo flute) virtuoso; and Ma Dongyan, celebrated erhu virtuoso. The event will also welcome leading musicians from Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Sydney, and Jiangsu and Zhejiang, alongside a new generation of Australian musicians passionate about the rich tradition of Jiangnan sizhu.
With a magnificent ensemble of nearly 100 performers, the concert celebrates the meeting of cultures and generations, bringing to life the distinctive sounds of the East across borders and oceans.
More than an annual celebration of the living tradition and continued legacy of Jiangnan sizhu music overseas, this concert marks a significant cultural milestone—where Chinese and international musical traditions converge through the universal language of music.
We warmly invite music lovers and friends from all communities to join us for this special occasion, experience the richness of a musical tradition shaped by generations, and discover the enduring beauty and boundless expressive power of Chinese music.
