About
Spring of Melbourne Concert, presented by the Spring Arts Multicultural Seniors’ Association Incorporated, is a grand multicultural celebration of music, dance and friendship. The evening unfolds in three captivating chapters:
Australia–China Friendship
The concert opens with the national anthems of Australia and China, followed by stirring choruses of My Motherland and Waltzing Matilda. Peking Opera, Scottish bagpipes, and vibrant dances such as The Red Flag Waves showcase the harmony of cultures and the enduring bond between the two nations.
Joyful Mid-Autumn Festival
Audiences will be enchanted by a Chinese ensemble performing timeless classics including Colourful Clouds Chasing the Moon, Blossoms under the Full Moon, and Dance of the Yao People. Highlights also include a lyrical soprano solo, Debussy’s Clair de Lune performed by a Malaysian pianist, and the pure voices of the Little Stars Children’s Choir.
Remembering History, Cherishing Peace
Marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, this segment features the powerful dance The Yellow River, a stirring brass quintet, and a majestic massed chorus of more than 120 performers with full orchestral accompaniment—an unforgettable tribute to memory, resilience, and peace.
