About
Presented by Lightbox Productions
Based on Charles Dickens’ final and unfinished novel, The Mystery of Edwin Drood is a hilarious, interactive whodunit mystery musical. The tale is presented as a show-within-a-show, as the Music Hall Royale - a delightfully outrageous Victorian theatre company - presents Dickens’ brooding mystery. However, there is a twist: the audience must decide how the story will end.
In the small town of Cloisterham, England, the young and charming Edwin Drood has a bright and bold future ahead of him. Unbeknownst to him, tensions are rising in the once-quiet Cloisterham. Jealousy lurks in the shadows for his engagement to the fair Rosa Bud. Clashes of personality are manipulated into wider rifts. Enigmatic strangers keep delivering ominous lines. Then, on one fateful Christmas Eve, he is murdered during a winter storm. But by whom? His beloved but deeply troubled uncle, John Jasper? The infamous purveyor of opium and vice, Princess Puffer? The mysterious Landless twins, newly arrived from Ceylon? Or someone else even more dastardly and villainous? Dark secrets and shenanigans abound in Rupert Holmes’ award-winning musical with a twist. The audience solves this unfinished mystery by voting on which of the many colourful characters has been disguised as the detective in hopes of finding the truth, which two characters will find love together and, of course, whom amongst them is the actual murderer.
This joyous romp will delight all audiences. With 424 possible endings, no two shows will ever be the same!
